came to us on 26th of June, 2007. Although born two days after Christmas last year, she was the size of a two month old baby (inset).
Her mother had tragically died in childbirth, and her father, unable to care for her, gave her to her grandparents. But her grandmother was blind, and they too were unable to cope.
When she arrived at our children's home in Madurai, her survival looked doubtful. But our staff fell in love with her instantly, and nursed her back to chubby health!
She is a credit to their care.

From Donavur, in the district of Tirunelveli, her father left when her mother was 6 months pregnant. His whereabouts is still unknown.
Her mother went alone to the hospital, but died in childbirth. The baby was taken home by a kindly nurse, but sadly her family were not keen for her to keep the child. This nurse then brought Rachel 200 kms to find the Love and Care India home.
The hospital had to bury the mother as she appeared to have no relatives, she was a stranger to the hospital.
